SWA Regulations

The South Florida Waste Authority does have rules for placing yard waste curbside.  Some of you have experienced your waste being left at the curb on pickup day.  You will be fined $50 so please adhere to the rules and have your landscapers adhere to the instructions, which are:

  • Yard Waste (6 cubic yard limit per week)
  • Yard waste includes debris from routine residential yard maintenance only.  It does not include debris generated from land clearing or tree removal.  All vegetation must be kept separate from other debris  and be dirt and sand free.
  • Yard waste is collected manually by a different truck than the garbage and is limited to 6 cy per week (the equivalent of 3 standard refrigerators).  Residents with more than 6 cubic yards can contact hauler and pay $9.00 per cubic yard to have the excess removed.
  • All yard waste, with the exception of tree branches and palm fronds, must be containerized in standard 32-50 gallon cans or sealed plastic bags.
  • Containers with contents cannot weigh more than 50 pounds.
  • Branches must be 6 feet or less in length and 50 pounds or less in weight.

For any questions or concerns contact SWA at 1-866-792-4636.  To order new or replacement recycling bins contact SWA at 1-866-639-2467.
